The Light Finds You

The Light Finds You is a Studio Study from my transition from comics to oils and mixed media. I was drawn to that quiet, instinctive motion when someone lifts their face toward the sun, not posing, just responding. In comics, linework carries the story. Here, I’m learning to let light do it instead.

I painted this to capture a moment that feels bigger than it looks. The way warm light changes the structure of a face, softens edges, and turns a simple glance into something hopeful. Her upward tilt is the whole point. It’s that split second when the world gets quieter and you can feel the day shifting.

For collectors, pieces like this have a unique kind of value because they document my journey in real time. This is a finished, signed, one of one original, offered at study pricing while I define my signature body of gallery work. I’m also including works in progress photos in the gallery, because the process matters. Those images are proof of the hand, the decisions, and the evolution of the painting, and they become part of the story you get to own.

Once this study sells, it’s gone. It includes a certificate of authenticity.
